We had a lovely cosy time in the cabin. Really warm and everything we needed was here. The walks from the cabin are brilliant (Ron Dog loved it). We can't wait to come and see the beautiful scenery in the summer. Thanks for making our stay so lovely and special. – December 2011
Dear Linda and John. Very much enjoyed our stay in your lovely log cabin. Everything was as good as we expected–if not better, and would highly recommend your log cabin to anyone. The food at the Queen's Head is absolutely beautiful - it is a little expensive but well worth the money. We were grateful for all the information in the cabin on the Lake District, and did some wonderful walks. Once again we hope to return one day to this fabulous area and wonderful log cabin. - November 2011
This was our first holiday together at the Lake District and we have loved it! What a beautiful little cabin Otter Lodge is!! Very homely and very warm and cosy. After reading the previous few comments we were a little disappointed that we did not see any otters playing in the river. Although to make up for this we did see a deer on the hills behind the Haybarn Inn on one of the walk routes that were in the cabin. We enjoyed following the routes that were in the cabin but weren't quite adventurous enough to try the Thresthwaite Mouth circular. All in all we have had a brilliant time and will definitely be back again! - October 2011
This was our first holiday to the Lakes. We were very impressed with the cabin. Everything we wanted was there, very homely. We had a great time playing in the river, the dogs loved it. Weather could not have been better. We did really well. Great meal in the Mortal Man. We also had a great day out in Windermere. The boat trip was really good, but the time here went far too quick. We have already said we plan to return next year. A big thank you to Linda and John, the cabin is a credit to you. Thanks for a great weekend. - October 2011
Comments from some young guests :-)
Day 1 - just got here it is very nice. Excellent cabin facilities. Very clean, comfy beds, very impressed, good first impression.
Day 1 - I am also here with her. We have had a brilliant comforting welcome to the site, First time on holiday without school to the Lakes, very very good facilities. We have brought two dogs and they are enjoying it already to say we have only been here for one hour. Very warm welcome.
Day 2 - we have been to the pony trekking but no one was there so we went in the lake. Someone made a rope swing and we went on that in the deep it but it was very fun. I have attempted the 500 piece jigsaw but had failed. Very good meals.
Day 3 - we went to the mortal man. I recommended to. But I must say the PS2 wasn't working. I am very pleased with my stay here thank you John and Linda - - October 2011
[ so sorry that the PS2 was malfunctioning. We have now replaced it but we are really sorry it wasn't working for you!]
This was our first holiday in the Lake District and our first holiday with our ten-month puppy. We went to the Grasmere/Rydal walk on Tuesday which was a great way to start our trip in the Lakes. It's a steady walk with various stunning views. On Wednesday we then drove up to Elterwater and walked towards Colwith Force which is the most breathtaking waterfall we have seen. This is where I proposed to Laura and she said yes! (I found it very strange reading the other couple's story on another page same age puppy and thousands of cocker spaniel, and then of course the proposal) the Lake District has a special charm that we have not experienced anywhere else. To top it off we got to spend a week in this beautiful cabin. We will treasure this week for ever! First thing we will be doing when we get back home is booking again for next year! Thanks John and Linda - October 2011
Superb lodge wonderful setting! Just what we needed for our first break in over a year! Been to the lakes before but this accommodation tops our list of places to stay! Full marks to the owners John and Linda! We will definitely be back! Coming from one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland (Inverness – Loch Ness monster country) this part of the Lakes is just like home! Thank you so much - September 2011
I'm writing this on the balcony, drinking a can of tea, listening to the beck while the sun is slowly sinking over the hills. On our first day we walked the Wansfell Pike circular which Talk as on a fantastic walk seen some magical sights. We spent the next day at Bowness on Windermere where we had a lovely daya and our cocker spaniel sampled ice cream for the 1st time. We walked to Windermere and then ended up walking back to the Mortal Man for a few pints enjoying the sunshine. The lodge has been fantastic with everything we needed and more. I proposed to my girlfriend on the balcony to which she said yes, so we leave the Lodge engaged. As I write this our cocker spaniel is fast asleep, probably dreaming of all the walks she has had. Thank you John and Linda for one of the best holidays ever; Weather: perfect. Lodge: perfect. Overall: absolutely perfect. Thank you we hope to come back next year. Going to the Haybarn later for a farewell pint (or 2). The only downside of the holiday is leaving. - September 2011
What a fantastic lodge! And a lovely setting! :-) I've had a lovely time here, it's just like a home away from home. Very well-kept and cosy. I will be back sure. - September 2011
How fantastic to wake up to the views we had. What a beautiful situation this cabin is in. (Would have been more beautiful still had it not rained all week though, ha ha). The cabin is cosy, clean and everything is provided for. Thank you so much for providing information on walks. We ventured up to Wansfell Pike twice. (Despite the driving rain). What breathtaking views (Wow!). Our dog Jess reverted back to being a puppy on those days. We have all enjoyed our stay here and will be looking forward to returning next year. - September 2011
We have had a brilliant stay here at Otter Lodge. There are lovely views across the river and we couldn't have asked for more in the lodge. Apart from the rain on Saturday we have really enjoyed our stay here and our dogs have loved it too. We would definitely recommend this place to family and friends. Thanks for everything - September 2011
We came across to lodge by chance on the Internet and what a find it was. We all had a great stay including our 2-year-old Labrador and apart from the rain on the first and second days, our stay here was fantastic. We all did plenty of walking and every single facility was as advertised - perfect! The power cut for 12 hours on our first morning was easily forgotten and the otter we saw in the beck that evening completed our day. Thank you ever so much and we hope to return soon. - August 2011
Dear John and Linda. Can't say enough words to thank you both for your kindness. After losing my husband in further this year, a lovely relaxing break was just what we needed. (My 8-year-old loved it too) We went fishing and love sitting on the decking listening to the river. Ate at the Haybarn and had a few beers, a very nice place and welcoming. Spent a day at Ambleside and had a cruise on the lake. It is very relaxing and the views were breathtaking. Don't want to go home, will take another visit to Limefitt. Thank you so so much. - August 2011
Hello - I am a 6-month-old puppy and this is my first holiday with my family. When we were in the car so long I didn't know where we were going but when we arrived… I LOVED IT! All the walks were amazing and the trips were cool too. After the hot sunny days it was heaven to jump into the river pool. The cabin was really cosy and I loved sitting on the veranda, feeding the ducks and watching the horses. All in all it was an excellent holiday. Hope I come again… Soon! Love Whiskey - Cocker spaniel
I agree with everything W has said above but I would like to add a few points. I would recommend the pony trekking. If you have been riding before the one and a half hour ride is great fun. If you have not been riding regularly the 30 min ride will be fine for you, providing you like horses. The children's bedroom was really cosy and comfortable on a night time. Storage in the children's room was great too. All in all, like Whiskey said, I have had a fab holiday. I hope I come again… Soon !!! - August 2010
Found Otter Lodge on the Internet while we trawled for a summer break which was dog friendly, as we now have a new puppy. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by how good the lodge looked in the perfect position overlooking the river. Absolutely the best Lakes holiday. Thanks very much for the thought which has gone into making visitors welcome. - August 2011
Had a fantastic honeymoon here at Otter Lodge! We found the lodge to be very clean and equipped with everything needed for our stay. The location of the park is ideal, with Windermere and Ambleside being just a short drive away. We enjoyed good food and atmosphere at both the Mortal Man and the Queen's Head. Our 2 active springer spaniel also enjoyed their stay, especially the dog field and the plunge pool. Thanks for a great week!! - August 2011
Had a fantastic time here, Molly the dog loved her exercise field and the beck is very relaxing to listen to. Good food both at the Haybarn and Mortal Man. Thank you. - August 2011
We have had the most lovely stay in Otter Lodge! Fab setting next to the river, and everything we needed within the lodge. Going home feeling very relaxed and with one very worn out dog! Thank you for a great week away! - August 2011
First visit to Limefitt and the cabin but definitely won't be the last!! Little boy (3 years old) and dogs loved it. The cabin is lovely and has absolutely everything you need. Very relaxing break, wish we were staying longer. Were very impressed with both the cabin and the site. Thank you! - July 2011
Absolutely lovely holiday. We came away to relax and found ourselves doing a different activity every day. We enjoyed Kendal and Bowness for shopping, Barrow for the beach, pebble beach looking out towards the windfarm in the bay. Our son Bradley loved the on-site park as well as the riverpool and the dog field with our 2 spaniels Bonnie and Buster. He also really enjoyed the steam train and aquarium at Lakeland. The lodge had everything we needed and the beck running past was just the icing on the cake. We really don't want to go home. July 2011
Our first holiday in the Lakes and first time away without 10-month-old Great Dane, Marvin. We had a fabulous time! Otter lodge had absolutely everything we needed and we enjoyed sitting in the afternoon sun on the deck with a couple of drinks. Staff at the Haybarn and Mortal Man could not have been nicer and were extremely welcoming to the 10 stone puppy! Hope to be back again! - June 2011
We have had a fantastic week. We booked this as a surprise for my father-in-law's 70th birthday, and it's a birthday we will never forget. It has been fantastic. Amazing views and a lovely lodge that catered for all. We hope to revisit sometime in the future. We had a delicious meal at the Mortal Man. Found the staff to be friendly and the price is reasonable. If you fancy a Chinese there is a lovely one in Windermere called the Oriental Kitchen. Thanks for an amazing holiday. - June 2011
We have had a lovely relaxing weekend and have been very comfortable in Otter Lodge. Idyllic surroundings and beautiful area. Weather much better than expected and managed a few drinks in the sun on the balcony. Thanks for the use of Otter Lodge! June 2011
We have had the most relaxing short break in perfect surroundings. Loved the lodge, made full use of the walking literature, much to the appreciation of our 3 year old black lab! - June 2011
We have had the most relaxing honeymoon, we thought to lodge was just lovely and the setting was perfect. We love the decking that was secure and safe for our dogs and toddler annually. High chair and cot were excellent and clean. We will definitely recommend this laodge and hopefully come back from anniversary thank you - May 2011
Just as we left the Lodge in October 09, nothing has changed, everything you could need, clean and comfortable, just a lovely setting, home from home!! Skye our basset hound also enjoyed her 2nd visit, no doubt he will be back for a 3rd, thank you! May 2011
Dear John and Linda, a fantastic stay, as soon as we walked into our lodge we wished we were here for a week and not just the weekend break! Such a soothing tranquil location to explore the mountains from, and a bonus to come back to after a hard slog of the mountain. If you think you have earned it after a good walk get yourself up to the Queens Head and treat yourself to the home-made pork scratchings and apple sauce. It's a starter but beware there was enough for two! It should be world-famous to my mind. Once again many thanks we will be back for longer next time, we didn't care about the rain as Wainwright once said " that no such thing as bad weather, just inadequate equipment"! May 2011
Our first visit to the lakes with our two dogs Topaz and Jade. OtterLodge is lovely and has everything you could ask for. Unfortunately the weather has been hit and miss, however it has not stopped as going out and about. We particularly enjoyed Bowness. We had a lovely lunch at the Mortal Man where the dogs enjoyed a run in the beer garden. We would highly recommend Otter Lodge to friends and family! Thanks! - May 2011
Our 1st visit to Otter Lodge and we too were blown away by the setting and location of the lodge within the park. Idyllicy and peaceful - the perfect "getaway from it all" holiday. Have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already looking forward to returning in the near future. Many thanks. - May 2011
It's my second visit to OtterLodge and it's been just as relaxing as last year. Weather has been gorgeous except for yesterday when the rain came and is still here! It's cosy listening to it though in the Lodge. Been to Keswick, Ambleside, Bowness and then walked to the Mortal Man and Queens Head. It's been a beautiful relaxing week and I will definitely be coming back next year. Thanks John and Linda for a superb break. The lodge is just as cosy and comfortable as I remember. - May 2011
Once again we had a fab time at Otter Lodge! Highly recommend a steak in the Haybarn pub (on-site) :-) We really enjoyed walking round Windermere lake every day in the sun, it's a shame we have to go home. Hope to be back soon thanks. - April 2011
Had a lovely stay. Otter Lodge was a home from home and gorgeous views 1st thing on a morning was beautiful. Will definitely be visiting again. Thank you Limefitt! - April 2011
Another superb break at Otter Lodge – have looked forward to it since our last visit and enjoyed every minute. Lodge clean, comfy, cosy and warm. Ate each day at the Mortal Man - fantastic welcome, menu, food and beer. The walks from here are great and dogs enjoyed the holiday as much as we did. Back home tomorrow, one of our first jobs will be to sort out dates and book again the next year. Many thanks John and Linda. April 2011
A big thank you to my 3 daughters who bought this for us as a special present for a big '0' birthday which was in January. We have been eagerly waiting since then and have not been disappointed. What a beautiful place. "The Otter"is gorgeous. Everything that you could possibly need is here. We brought our little dachshund on his first holiday and he has loved it. We have been lucky with the weather too!! Have a lovely Sunday lunch at the Mortal Man. Have wandered around to Coniston and Bowness but have always looked forward to coming back to Otter Lodge to chill out and relax–looking out over the stream. Thank you so much. - March 2011
First time in Otter Lodge, last year stayed in Kingfisher Lodge, just as good, love the setting! First two days were beautiful weather. Went on some lovely long walks, our dogs loved the rock pool. Shame our last day was rainy, still couldn't keep us in though. Can't wait to return next year - March 2011
Friday - Just arrived. Heavy rain. No problem we're in the Lakes. "Brilliant". Just chill. With great friends, the best, enjoy the landscape. Tomorrow exploring the area, coaxed and past Ullswater. Childhood memories. Sleep tight. zzzzzz.
Saturday - Day-to-day life a distant memory. Bubbling beck a treat. On we go! Ullswater, peaceful tranquillity. M and M loved it. Back to Otter. Ambled to the Haybarn, pleasant surprise, rustic exterior but contemporary interior. "Smashin", after a couple of Dublin black stuff, settled in for the evening. Cosy. Dinner done. "Upwords" boardgame. Competitive. M and M sleeping. 96.1 FM groovy listening. Tomorrow beckons. zzzzz.
Sunday - Woke up to sunshine. Douche. Breakfast. Walk from Haybarn to Windermere. M and M were really well-behaved. Muddy boots! Great views over the lake. Super Sunday! England win the rugger over the old enemy. Back at Otter, settled in for the evening. Cosy. Leaving tomorrow, back to work, fantastic long weekend. Beautiful lodge in a fantastic location, will definitely return to enjoy this beautiful part of the world. - March 2011
What a great place! This was our first time at Otter Lodge and won't be our last. The time has just flown by, everyday paacked but totally relaxing, just what we needed after a busy Christmas. The Queen's head was lovely; good, basic pub grub at the Haybarn too. A wonderful, cosy stay. We will definitely be back later in the year. - January 2011
"Although our holiday was delayed by one day due to the cabin water being frozen and we then spent the first 24 hours without water, ferrying buckets of water from the lodge my daughter was staying in (Kingfisher) we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The lodge is great, clean and well equipped. Zak, our 18-month-old dalmatian and his half brother Scoops (daughter's dog) have had a whale of a time. Our grown-up son who stayed with us in Otter has walked miles in the snow. The scenery is so beautiful, the food at The Haybarn brilliant. John was into communication with our daughter constantly until the water came on. Thank you John for your excellent customer service. My daughter, her husband and Scoops the dog staying in Kingfisher with Martin's mum and dad kept company with us and I had a great time. New Year's Eve brilliant buffet free at the Haybarn. Family had fab time and will be back. Thank you for the fab accommodation." - January 2011 (NB - we will be fitting trace heating to Otter Lodge this year to avoid any repetition of the frozen pipes issue - it was -19C the day before our guests arrived!!!) December 2010
"Had a fantastic weekend at Otter Lodge despite the cold weather and snow - just made the cabin even more inviting and cosy! We ate at the Haybarn - very comfy couches and lovely log fire. Also ate at Mortal Man - lovely place - a very comfortable and food was beautiful. The cabin is in a very good position within the park - despite the cold we managed to sit outside listening to the beck flowing with a nice glass of wine. Perfect start to Christmas. Sailed on Windermere from Bowness and had a lovely afternoon in Hawkshead. Will definitely return - our dogs loved their walks and will miss the place. Many thanks" - December 2010
"Very happy with our stay at Otter Lodge. Never stayed at the Lakes before. Would recommend it to friends and family. The lodge itself is warm and cosy. It feels like a million miles away from home. Wish we could have stayed longer, will be back at Otter Lodge in the summer if available (hope so). Best position on the site. Thank you so much. See ya soon."- November 2010
"We have absolutely loved our stay at Otter Lodge. We came for a weekend break to celebrate our first year together and got engaged! We felt really at home and only wish we could stay longer. We ate at the Queens Head and the Mortal Man and thoroughly enjoyed both. We found the Mortal Man to be like a cosy friendly local and the Queens Head was more upmarket with fantastic food. Both pubs gladly accepted our Jack Russell (Rusty), although the Mortal Man and made him feel right at home and spoiled him with lots of biscuits. We visited Bowness and Ambleside and thought that Bowness was a much better place to shop. We picked up some lovely Christmas presents. We will hopefully be back to stop in Otter Lodge in the future." - November 2010
"What a relaxing stay in idyllic surroundings!! Even the pouring rain every day couldn't dampen our spirits. It was great to go out on walks with our playful cocker spaniel knowing that you were "coming home" to a cosy and warm lodge. Our little five-year-old had a great time in a play area particularly the zip wire even in the boggy and wet conditions. The lodge is fantastic with every creature comfort provided and it was just great to relax and unwind from the stresses and strains of everyday working life. Would definitely recommend to family and friends and are considering a Christmas break in the very near future!" - October 2010
"So glad we came :-) The lodge was so comfy and warm and everything we needed was to hand. My daughter (six years) loves the play area and even this time of year the pool in the river. It is our second visit and my husband's first. I'm really happy that it was as I remembered. He has managed to relax for once and slow down. Great walks with our dog and good food and sky TV and the pub (football!!). I'd recommend the Lake District visitors centre at Brockhole - dog friendly and beautiful gardens and great play area. Looking forward to coming back soon. Thank you for a wonderful time"- October 2010
"What a fantastic lodge and a beautiful surrounding! We had a lovely chilled week away from the norm. Couldn't fault the lodge at all - everything we've needed has been here. Been on a lovely walk - Bobby loved it - and a boat trip on Lake Windermere. Gorgeous views and will definitely be back! Thanks for a lovely stay" - October 2010
"We had a lovely break away from home, felt like we could totally switch off in this stress-free cabin. Really is home from home and didn't need anything extra as it's all here !! We spent our time at Grizedale Forest and Whinlatter Forest, excellent trail walks with Zack our black lab - he loved it. Fantastic views can't believe we were all the way up the top. The day cruising from Ambleside - 4 mile walk to Bowness then back to Ambleside was another lovely day out. Recommend the Mortal Man pub food! Good menu and large portions, friendly and welcoming to us and Zak. Thanks for the lovely stay. Usually I'm ready for home after a holiday abroad but this holiday I could easily stay." - October 2010
"Another great week in the lodge. We had a visit of a badger on Tuesday night which has done a little bit of damage to the gate. Fantastic to see them but can do a lot of damage. At last after a week Jake our springer spaniel is worn out. Will be back again hopefully this year for a weekend." October 2010
"Stay just as good as last time, even with all the rain. We'll be here next year all being well. Thanks for a cosy cabin with all mod cons." - October 2010
"Very enjoyable stay, lovely well appointed lodge. Not our first visit to the Lake District and won't be our last. Would love to come back to Otter Lodge. Recommend good value at Haybarn and one of many good places is the Wateredge at Ambleside. Very clean and comfortable. Thanks."- September 2010
"Lovely lodge, wonderful setting plus the bonus of great weather for most of the week. Cosy, comfortable accommodation as per your information, everything we needed to hand. Very central for visiting different locations. This is the first time we have had a holiday with our dog. She enjoyed investigating the area and settled extremely well. Thank you John and Linda for a great week. We will be back"- September 2010
"Lovely lodge in a stunning setting. Breakfast on the deck, watching the ponies and listening to the babbling brook was a wonderful start to the day. Facilities in the lodge brilliant - we wanted for nothing. The bed was so comfortable! The beer garden at the Mortal Man is lovely, well worth a visit. All in all a very enjoyable holiday (Weather fantastic). We will be back." - September 2010
"Very happy with our stay in Otter Lodge. Everything was as described in your information. A beautiful plot, lovely views, pretty places to visit. The Haybarn pub was very comfortable and food was nice ... daughter aged nine loved the part and the pond area. Altogether a great place for R&R. Would recommend to friends and family." - August 2010
"What a lovely lodge and a fantastic location. Dog will not want to go home, he has loved his own private stream to splash about in. The Mortal Man was a treat on our first night and the food was great. Not so keen on the pub on site, the Haybarn, food was okay but nothing fantastic. Best bit was sitting on the balcony on a night in the sunshine with a glass of wine. Fantastic. Would definitely come back again." (but their daughter said: "I beg to differ, I loved the pub on site especially the jacket potato and lasagne. But I wasn't too keen on the Mortal Man as there wasn't much vegetarian options" - Must be horses for courses :-))- August 2010
"Fantastic lodge with fantastic facilities. It's brilliant to the way that you can bring your dog and they can run around the decking and not be able to get out due to the gate. Loved the reclining sofas and the bunkbed was extremely comfy (I was on top!) thanks for agreat stay in a lovely place. Views are great!" - August 2010
"Great lodge and a fantastic location, just wish we'd booked for longer ! Best place to eat was the Mortal Man! Pub on the site is nice and kid friendly too. Thanks a lot." August 2010
"Wow what can we say? -- the lodge was fantastic better than we imagined. Warm and comfortable and very peaceful. Just what we needed a few days away - no mobile phone coverage and no work hassles. We have loved every minute of it and I'm gutted to be going home. Wish we had booked for longer. Big thanks to John and Linda, the owners, you have provided everything we needed for a perfect long weekend. Little boy has had a ball and we can't wait to book again. Would recommend the Haybarn where we were made very welcome - lovely friendly service. The food was very good ( big portions)" - August 2010
"Well what can I say? This lodge is amazing, very comfortable and has everything you need, can't fault it one bit. Recommended is hiring a boat on Windermere and taking a barbecue with you sitting on the jetty. Will be returning" - August 2010
"Recommended to us by friends who have stayed in both Otter and Kingfisher Lodges. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find the place just picture perfect. Fabulous views and location spot on. Clean and well equipped. Oscar, our Golden Lab settled in so well he looked like he lived here!! The perfect place for a well earned "chill out" from a busy world. Thank you to John and Linda for renting the lodge out. A place like home and it's simply wonderful!! We will be back for another stay " - August 2010
"Thank you for a lovely relaxing holiday - only one complaint - we have to go home! Location clean and comfortable - accommodation first-class thank you John and Linda" - July 2010
"What a lovely lodge and a great place. The weather not the greatest but we still had a brilliant time. Only one regret is we wish we had bought the dog! Maybe next time" - July 2010
"This has been our first mini break with our nine-month-old daughter, so I'd been a bit nervous that may be the lodge wouldn't be as well-equipped or comfortable as promised, but thankfully it's been great. We loved our weekend exploring the countryside, feeding the resident duck family and generally marvelling at the views. Sunday was very wet and windy, but knowing we had such a comfortable base to return to meant it really didn't spoil our trip. Thanks very much - and we look forward to returning here and exploring Cumbria again when our little girl is a little older" - July 2010
"What a wonderful holiday. Came with ourt German Shepherd dog who had a fabulous time. The lodge is excellent, very well equipped. The bed is extremely comfortable. We ate at the Haybarn, Mortal Man and the Queen's Head. All of them were very good but the Queen's Head is excellent. A little more expensive but of a very high standard. Gorgeous food! We can recommend hiring a boat on Ullswater where dogs were very welcome. Dog loved it. We will definitely return again as we've had a wonderful week. Lodge is in a beautiful location. Many thanks. PS look out for the resident duck and her babies - she calls for her bread." - July 2010
"A very nice lodge in a great location. The weather has been excellent - better than our last break in the Lakes. (Flood of November 09) Would recommend this place to friends and family. Should have booked two weeks." - June 2010
"Like the people before we also bought our 10-month black labrador, Macey. She had a brilliant time. We found the lodge cosy and had everything we could possibly need. The weather has been fantastic and we have done a few walks, the views are amazing. Macy was spoiled at The Mortal Man as the girls gave her biscuits, she thought that was wonderful. Shame to be going home tomorrow, thanks for a great time." - June 2010
"Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful log cabin. My daughter and I are with our 10-month-old labrador Jake who has had such a good time here. Would love to return again. Sad to be going home." - June 2010

"Have had a lovely break in the Lake District. The lodge and location is fantastic. We have enjoyed trips to Keswick ,Ullswater, Aira Force, the Kirkstone Pass, Windermere and of course Bowness. We found the service and meals at the Haybarn fantastic. Mortal man good too. We have found sitting on the sundeck listening to the flow of the river with a glass of winethe best! Our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (Lottie) has enjoyed her holiday too - the dog walking area is very peaceful. We will be coming again" - May 2010
"We would just like to say thank you for letting us stay in your lodge. We were very surprised when we walked in. It is just perfect. The bed is so comfortable (must try and get one for home). The weather not too bad but the day we are going it is glorious. Wish we could stay longer. We will certainly be coming back - thank you again." - May 2010
"What a fantastic place. Wonderful location and first-class accommodation. Everything we needed. Truly a home from home. First holiday for our 12-month Bedlington who is normally quite nervous in new situations but not this time. He had a fantastic time and settled in immediately. The music and entertainment was a very nice touch. You really made his holiday first-class can't wait to revisit" - May 2010
"This is our second visit to Limefitt Park. We last came in December 09 and stayed at Kingfisher Lodge during the fabulous thick snow. This time the weather was lovely and we enjoyed many lovely walks in the local area. Otter Lodge is as comfortable cosy and homely as Kingfisher Lodge and we have loved our time here. Our 18-month-old son has loved watching the horses in the field opposite and seeing the ducks by the stream. We have enjoyed delicious meals in both pubs in Troutbeck and had a great walk to Ambleside via Wansfell Pike. We are already thinking about when to visit again! Thank you John and Linda for another wonderful holiday. We look forward to the next one." - May 2010
"What can we say? A perfect retreat to get away from the stress and strains of life! So tranquil and beautiful, the best location for a retreat we have ever had. The lodge itself is so comfortable and cosy we don't want to leave. Enjoyed a pint at the local in front of the fire, but the food at the highly recommended Mortal Man is at the top of our list. My daughter came for the day and the amenities ie play area, pool and horses were ideal for her. Now we feel totally refreshed and ready to get back to real life. We will definitely be back and will be calling you very soon. It will be recommended to all we know." - May 2010
"We have had a wonderful stay here at Otter Lodge. Fantastic views and great location. Enjoyed spending our evenings on the balcony watching the horses and feeding the resident duck! Thank you for a perfect break" - April 2010
"Fantastic lodge with amazing views. Lodge was homely and clean. Great walks for the dogs nearby and all the pubs dog friendly. Best pub - The Mortal Man. Food there was out of this world!! Looking forward to coming back again" - April 2010
"This has been a super weekend escape. Otter Lodge is a clean, cosy and must have one of the best positions on site. Sitting listening to the sound of the beck and looking at the view is so relaxing. Did some lovely walks straight from the door and managed to tire the dogs which was a bonus. Ate out at The Mortal Man both nights, great food and Timothy Taylor's beer - what more could anyone want! I have a dodgy back and often struggle with uncomfy beds while on holiday - not here though - fantastic comfy nights sleep. Thanks John for the perfect dog friendly break. Will be back without a doubt." - April 2010
"Spent a lovely few days here at to lodge. Location, scenery and facilities fantastic. Lovely and clean and well equipped. A big thank you to John, the owner, for all his support when our car broke down. Will definitely come back." April 2010
"My second visit to the Hobson lodges. This time with the other members of my family. They were very impressed. Lovely birthday here on Sunday. We had great weather for the time of year. This time we had a barbecue and lovely fish and chips at the Haybarn on site. They were so friendly and loved the dog. I have to force myself to pack up and leave now!" April 2010

We want to recommend the Coniston Boating Centre as we took out a motorboat for four hours and had a barbecue on a jetty it was heaven! Also the Italian restaurant, Dobbs, in Ambleside was lovely. Having our dinner on the balcony at night listening to the river has definitely been a highlight, which is why we hope to see you again soon. We don't want to leave!" - March 2010

"May we say this has been a fantastic stay. Lodge is absolutely perfect. Thanks to John. The fire didn't work properly when we arrived but when John called to see if we had made it safely, we told him and within a few hours he had it fixed. Fab service. Everything was provided so it was exactly like going round a mate's house. We will be back sometime. Thank you. Really enjoyed it here." - January 2010

"Christmas Day! We couldn't have asked for more, waking up to a white Christmas. We took great pleasure in decorating the dining table where we had all the trimmings on a Christmas lunch, with help from the fantastic lodge facilities. However, best news came when a proposal took place between myself and my now fiance . Of course I accepted within the picturesque surroundings!! A big thanks to John and Linda for the best Christmas ever." - December 2009
"Firstly we would like to say we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Otter Lodge. The view with the snow has been absolutely stunning - like a Christmas card scene. the lodge itself was extremely clean and was kitted out with all the necessities and more. We took a walk to the Mortal Man and enjoyed a well deserved drink! We found the staff to be very polite and welcoming as we sat defrosting by the log fires. Also the Lighthouse restaurant in the town served good quality food. It's very apparent staying here that the lodge is well cared for by its owners. I was surprised with just the amount of "stuff" we had at our disposal. We stayed during some heavy snow and the lodge is well located. We did walks to Ambleside and Windermere -- although we feel very tired for it! We would recommend the lodge to family and friends without reservation. - December 2009 "
"We had a fantastic weekend at the lodge! Beautiful setting and a lovely cosy Lodge. We would like to say big thank you to John, Linda and Gary for all your help! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back next year." - November 2009
"To everybody, especially Mr Hobson, the owner! Thank you very much for accommodation. The lodge had everything we need. In fact we were a bit surprised at all the equipment we found here! Though the weather was typically Cumbrian (rained all the stay), we enjoyed it very much! Thanks again! In case any of us will be travelling nearby, we will try to make a stay again. (Sorry for my English, it is not perfect)" (note from John - it's rather better than my Czechoslovakian though!)" - November 2009
"Well what can I say? From the moment we arrived we felt that Otter Lodge was a magical story trail with the most amazing view. I would recommend to all our friends and family and am sure we will be back very soon." - November 2009

"We have had an amazing weekend here at Otter Lodge. The lodge is amazing - so cosy and warm with beautiful views. Our 6 month old puppy loved his 1st holiday. We will definitely be back"- October 2009
"We both had a great break away from the "norm" - The lodge has everything we needed.. especially the warm fire for the cold evening! Location is great - we are not strangers to the Lakes, but we have not stayed on this side before - lovely. Thanks to owners for a very well turned out lodge - we especially like the view out from the balcony - even a kingfisher or two!" (note from John- you were in the wrong lodge - you are only supposed to see Otters from this one :-))" - October 2009
"What a "magical" stay we have had here at "Otter Lodge". The lodge stands in one of the best positions in the park. The brochure photos don't do it justice. The amenities on the site are superb. We must comment on the contents in the lodge. Talk about "home from home". NOTHING has been missed out at all, and it was all spotless and clean. It really is a credit to the owners, John & Linda, - two really lovely people. 10/10 We shall be back." - October 2009
