The site has been designed by the team that won the Cumbria Tourism Website of the Year Award for 2008 by beating other highly professional finalists like our hosts, South Lakeland Parks and their excellent web site. This site is, in fact, based on the design template that won the award - www.windermerelodge.co.uk
The Windermere Lodge web site also won the "Content" category of the international ROWA Awards 2009. The website beat off strong competition from 56 other holiday rental websites from all over the world and 5 other highly professional finalists from Germany, France and Italy. The attention of the awards will help promote not only our own lodges but also tourism in the Lake District region, as the site content, like this one includes a large amount of local destination information.
We don’t take a percentage of your booking as a fee - instead we charge a nominal set up charge and an annual fee and you get to see all the enquiries that are made for your lodge. We feel that that’s a fairer deal. We also operate a “shared leads” policy where we let our advertisers know of any enquiries we get that we can’t satisfy ourselves, and we encourage you to do the same. It works a bit like “Karma” so there is no charge made for this extra service. It works by our using a private area on the forum on this site to share information. This helps our guests and helps each other so we like to think that it is generally “a good thing”.
We are also really excited about the "Featured Holiday Partner" idea that means that your guests booking via this site can get exclusive discounts from local suppliers. In return we offer the supplier an advert on this site. Simple but very effective for all parties. You can see the current partners on the left hand column of the page.
When you advertise here, you get your very own “micro-site” with a pre-defined proven layout which shares the branding with this popular, content-rich destination web site. We make a great effort to ensure that the content here is up to date, interesting and professionally laid out.
The listing allows you:
- unlimited text (within reason)
- up to 11 photographs in gallery format
- a link to an availability calendar (we recommend Dateblocker)
- your telephone number
- an enquiry form that will be allow holiday makers to contact you directly by email
- and a link to your own web site.
A listing costs just £110 a calendar year (with a £50 set up fee) which would easily be paid for by just one extra booking
In February 2007 we had over 1500 unique visitors to this site - an average of 50 per day. the vast majority of our visitors added this site to their “favourites”!
By March 2008 the number of visits has risen to nearly 100 a day and in August 2009 we had nearly 4,000 unique visitors.
Most of the hits we get on this come from people keying “Limefitt” into a search engine. In fact, when we did some analysis, from 1554 visits no less than 1245 came from searches on a variant of “Limefitt”. This site has been set up so that it will get a search engine ranking for similar searches, so you will get visits and enquiries from people who are actively looking to stay at Limefitt.
If you type in "Limefitt" or "Limefitt Park" into Google you will see that this site is consistently in the number one position. In fact for Limefitt Park we sometimes get both number one AND number two in the organic search results which are based on page quality and relevance!

The wide array of resources and local information that we have set up for visitors will also mean that potential guests are attracted to this site from a variety of search engines.
