Hi,
Things are much better today (Fri 20th) and we've managed to get down to Windermere to get the provisions in before the rain hits us again.
Journey to Windermere much better than when we arrived at Limefitt at 7pm last night after a 5 hour nightmare journey from Yorkshire. Yes, we were mad setting off but we didn't realise how bad it was here until we heard the local radio and tried all the routes we knew to get here to avoid flood waters as we've done so in previous heavy down pours, only to find we were cut off in all directions. Ended up heading back to Penrith and to the M6 then driving along the A590/A591 bypassing Kendal - which was still heavily flooded in places but just passable.
Just watching the news it really makes us realise how lucky we were to get here, but how unfortunate many people have been - Really hope they find the missing Police Officer swept away by the floods in Workington.
Thankfully our snagging problem of a leaking chimney flue in to the boiler cupboard was sorted earlier this week, otherwise our lodge may well have been under water.
