Haybarn on site or owners bar
« on: April 28, 2010, 05:38:05 PM »
hello

We are staying on site in June and would like to know if we can book the haybarn or owners bar for a 30th meal or buffet.

If this is not possible is there any good place to go to do this

thanks

Neil

Hi

We had a lovely birthday meal at the Queens Head recently
not cheap but they threw in a tremendous birthday cake for free!!

If it's at the weekend you should be aware that the Haybarn currently stops serving food at 7:30 at the weekend (8 p.m. in the week)

(Edit - it seems that they now open until 8 pm at the weekend too at least during the high season)

You have two great pubs 10 minutes walk up the road that serve until about 9 p.m. (I think) - The Mortal Man and The Queens Head - you can reserve at both and I am sure you would have a great time at either. Both have web sites:

http://www.queensheadhotel.com/
and
http://www.themortalman.co.uk/pub.htm

The Queens Head is more gastro pubby (and a bit dearer). It does have a dining room that you could probably book as a private area if there were enough of you.

The Mortal Man has a lovely garden and would get my vote for value for money and great food and beer.

The Haybarn wins for (early) convenient good value pub grub with the family, but that's not what you are after from the sound of it.
