"This is just what we needed after the year we've had. Relax and enjoy the scenery. Another lovely stay just like last year. Will be back again." - December 2011
"Windermere Lodge is lovely. Enjoyed our stay. Pity we couldn't control the weather but still got out and about. We love the Lake District. Thanks - hope to come again." - December 2011
"Dear John and Linda. We came here to relax and get away from it all and that is exactly what we did! It was great having Wi-Fi so as to keep in touch with our kids (making sure they have not burned the house down). We have already recommended it to our friends via e-mail and will hopefully be coming again. Thank you very much for the little extra touches – kitchen towel, tinfoil etc. Things we would and did forget. Kind regards." - November 2011
"Sizergh Castle does excellent sausage sandwiches and also very decent food at Haybarn on site. Great breakfasts at the Glasshouse in Ambleside. Lovely coffee at Booths in Windermere. The whole family enjoyed the boat trip from Bowness to the Aquarium and back again. Lots to see in Carlisle, really enjoyed the Pre-Raphaelite exhibition at Tully house. Super cabin. Thanks." - October 2011
"We enjoyed staying in your lodge and the dogs did too! The lodge was lovely and clean and the furniture is really nice and comfy! We are really upset that we have to leave but we hope to come back soon. Thanks so much" - October 2011
"Came to your lovely place - had a great time. Hope to come again soon! Thank you!" October 2011
"Hello, thanks for all the contact prior to our arrival. All information was appreciated and made our holiday even better. Accommodation was first class. We will be letting our friends know more about this place. Look forward to a return journey." - September 2011
"Thank you for a lovely weekend and for accommodating as such short notice" - September 2011
"We have had one of the best holidays ever here, and we have stayed in five-star all over. This place is so homely and ideal for a family such as ours with a 2-year-old. We recommend the aquarium boat trip and for food we really enjoyed the Mortal Man and the Queens Head – both delicious home-cooked food. John has thought of everything and it was lovely to see the small touches like the toys and games etc. This is the most child friendly place we have ever stayed and we are definitely booking again as soon as we can get a week off. We don't want to leave and want to thank John for all the lovely things that have made 5 days perfect." September 2011
"My birthday! Lovely lodge to stay in. We would return and this is something we never do. Very comfortable, pretty and just like a home. It has everything you need. As stated gas oven is slow. Didn't use the microwave. Problem with toaster but was given a replacement straightaway. There are no complaints with this place. The surroundings are beautiful. Haybarn is a good place for easy meals. Shame there are very few windows in the Haybarn to see the beautiful hills." - September 2011
"Absolutely beautiful place and great accommodation. Even though the weather was pretty bad we had a lovely time. We had a great walk to Ambleside on Sunday stopped by the Mortal Man on the way home – lovely pub and beer garden. The baby carrier worked a treat for us! Had a couple of meals in the Haybarn Inn and would definitely recommend it to other visitors – great food and not too pricey! First time for us in the Lake District and hopefully we will be back sometime (in better weather!!) Many thanks and best wishes." - September 2011
"We've had an absolutely amazing time here at Windermere Lodge! spacious accommodation, all the mod cons (including the PS2) (not to mention the Antony Worrall Thompson knife block), the breathtaking beautiful scenery of the fouls, the nearby facilities and friendly on-site pub. Even though we only met you (John and Linda) briefly on the dog field you both seem lovely! We are sad to leave here… But back to Blackpool/Manchester we go! We recommend the motorboats at bonus on Windermere, quad bikes and the pub (Queen's head). Thank you again for having us and we wish you the best for the future. You deserve it!" September 2011
"I love the beautiful views of the mountains and the lovely villages. It was great. The lodge was brilliant, the beds were comfy and I slept well, thank you. We all enjoyed it very much and we thank you for that. You are the best. It's a shame we have to go. We are hoping to come again!!!" - August 2011
"Fantastic place to stay, lovely lodge with everything that we could want… A fantastic place for people with dogs – lovely to be able to go to places and you can take your dog. (A little different to down South!) Weather has been good to us! Only one day of rain but otherwise fine. We all slept well in the beds – they are very comfy!" - August 2011
"What an absolutely beautiful place Limefit Park is – so peaceful and relaxing. We had our 10-month-old cocker spaniel withers and were thrilled with all the dog friendly pubs in the area – Haybarn, Mortal Man, Queens Head, and the Watermill (at Ings). Also thought the doggy field on the park was an excellent idea. Windermere Lodge is excellent – well-equipped, clean and has very comfortable beds! Can recommend a half day in Hawkshead – very pretty and quaint – but go early because it fills up quickly by about lunchtime. The weather was very unkind to us during our week's stay – lots of torrential rain – only 2 and a half good days out of 7! We (including lots of other visitors) thought the idea of the Haybarn being shut every Monday was a very strange idea, especially during the peak season and for people just arriving from Monday to Friday visits. [We have taken this up with the CEO of South Lakeland Parks and have been promised that it will now be open on Mondays -J&L]. Thank you for letting us stay here. We will definitely be back in the future – but really hope the weather is a lot kinder to as next time." August 2011
"We had a lovely time, very impressed with the facilities the lodge has – we have a 21-month-old toddler and there was so much provision made such a change mat, toys – I wouldn't have bought half the stuff with us had I known!! Also the outside of the lodge is very safe for little ones is– we actually relaxed for a while whilst aid in the runaround!! ... Whilst we were here the weather was gorgeous and the Air Show was on so we timed it very well. We will be back I'm sure." July 2011
"Thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful Lodge. We have had a lovely holiday." - July 2011
"Excellent accommodation, ideal location for touring out and about. Really enjoyed our stay here in the Lake District. Sunny weather helped of course." July 2011
"Another fantastic stay at Windermere Lodge! The Lodge is still as lovely as we remembered from our last visit. Our 3 and a half-year-old summed it up when he first arrived with his comment of "Wow it's amazing here!" Made good use of the patio with a glass of wine, the children's games and even a DVD. A real home away from home! Will definitely be back to stay again. Thanks." - July 2011
"Had a great week. Lodge was fantastic. Had everything and was very clean. And the bonus was great whether. The site is well situated and it was easy to go everywhere. Hope to be back again." July 2011
"What a wonderful, relaxing time we've had, the Lodge is so homely and comfortable, and a great location and perfect for dogs. Thanks!" – June 2011
"Had a fantastic week. Lodge is great. Will be returning soon." - June 2011
Thanks for a lovely week! Lodge lovely (felt like we had started our holiday the minute we arrived!), Clean, cosy and modern. Park absolutely beautiful, with just the right mix of amenities. Boys absolutely love the football pitch and playground. Haybarn pub cosy and food very nice. Had a great meal out at the Lakeland Pub. Great children's menu. Hilltop well worth a visit and the walk up to the tarn (road opposite) well worth the effort. Can understand where she drew her inspiration from – stunning. Troutbeck, Hawkshead and Ambleside are worth a visit. (Check out Poppy Red in Hawkshead for tea and home-made cake!). Hope to be back soon and will definitely be back." - June 2011
"Thank you for a lovely last-minute break! The Lodge is lovely and very well equipped. Managed the walk to Windermere and back with the dog and baby which was an achievement in itself. Hope to come again sometime soon. Thanks and kind regards." – June 2011
"A fabulous cabin – luxurious – but still homely and very well equipped. Love the area and the local walks. Hope to visit again next year." - June 2011
"Writing this on the Thursday because the heavens have opened and we are all rained in. The lodge has been great, well equipped and comfortable and it was great to find all the toys and books to keep our little one, Olivia, who is nearly 2, amused. I would recommend a walk up to Troutbeck down the side of the church and through the field of sheep, however if you plan to do the circular walk up and behind Troutbeck to the waterfall then beware the huge stone style as I had to physically lift the dog onto a 5 foot wall and hope he's jump off the other side (he's a big lad!). On the subject of the dog he has been quite an embarrassment to us; he was a "bit ill" in the Mortal Man and decided to jump onto the table of a nice pub in Windermere. However he did enjoy the boat trip on the lake (dogs travel for free). We travelled to Keswick yesterday to find that the Cars of the Stars TV Museum is now shut so don't try to go there, but in a rather surreal turn of events we drove past the car from the Munsters and then Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as they were being loaded onto trucks to their new home in Florida. If this is your first time, the club on site is very nicely appointed although it has been quiet this week with bar staff outnumbering patrons. We did struggle with the oven but that was down to us however. You need to press the dials in when using it! However, Gary was most friendly and made sure we do not feel too stupid. Finally if you like to feed the birds, place bread, or just about anything, on the decking back wall and a rather large team of blackbirds (jackdaws?) will descend. Other wildlife seen was a water vole, wild rabbits and a rather frisky deer that required a bit of rally driving to avoid. (Take care out about very early in the morning). We've had a great stay and hope to return." - May 2011
"Thank you for a fantastic 5 days in your beautiful cabin. Comfort, cleanliness, brilliant. Would recommend this to family and friends. Views amazing as usual. Beatrix Potter. The children loved the factory. We loved Haybarn, Mortal man. Cannot wait for next year" - May 2011
"Thank you very much for an amazing time! The weather has been perfect, it hasn't even rained once. The lodge was spotless and we were really surprised at how many extras came with it, for example the PS2. It's such a lovely area and the walks were spectacular, the view of the show were delightfully perfect. The mothers want to go home including the dog. Thanks once again." - April 2011
"Writing this whilst watching coverage of the Royal Wedding! We have had a fantastic week. The weather could not have been better – blue skies, burning sun and very hot. Exploring the area has been a delight – we've visited Bowness, Grizedale and Ullswater. We recommend the Albert in Bowness for a great pub meal. Nice lodge in a great Park. Many thanks." - April 2011
"We had a lovely weekend thank you." - April 2011
"We have had a super week: not a drop of rain! Lovely lodge – clean, well provided and well located. Many thanks." - April 2011
"Thank you once again for a fantastic time." - April 2011
"We all had a great time, the lodge was perfect for a weekend escape. Enjoy the local walks and the fantastic scenery.Dubghall (Dougal) Had a great time, especially meeting another flatcoat! Hope to be back soon." - March 2011
"We had such a lovely time, the launch was lovely, really clean. We loved all the little touches. We hope to come back soon thank you." - March 2011
"Lodge was fantastic. Location is also fantastic. To have this place as a base and visiting so many great places it's even better than we expected. So many great walks to go on all from the doorstep. Hope to come back sometime in the future. I think the larger location have the "Wow" factor." - March 2011
"From the minute we arrived at your beautiful lodge we have just chilled, relaxed and feel blessed that we found you. We don't want to leave, but if we do, that means we can plan to come back. Soon we hope. Also mobile phones not working - what a bonus… Thank you so much." - January 2011
"A lovely place to start the New Year. Our first stay at Windermere Lodge which certainly lived up to our expectations – very comfortable and well equipped. The toddler friendly equipment was excellent for a 4 month old grand daughter. Enjoyed the walks and all the information you provided ...You have thought of everything. The Queens Head was a great stop during one of the walks. A meal is planned there before we depart. We'll certainly return here very soon and I will be recommending to family and friends." - January 2011
"Enjoy holiday times thank you. Nice room nice garden, grass, rock, tree. Ate noodle rice on the patio very nice. Dog everywhere – very nice dog – also nice spider bug. Eco system." - December 2010
"Another relaxing Christmas in your fabulous lodge. Everything we needed and more! Views were spectacular 2010 with snow-covered hills. It was lovely to wake up Christmas morning and see the snow falling down yet again. Can't believe how lucky we are to have snow 2 years running! Thank you again for a great break! We have felt very welcome here at Windermere Lodge! It is also nice to know that the lodge is earthquake proof, ha ha! Will be in touch soon take care" - December 2010

We enjoyed our boat trip on Ullswater, our walk to Aira Force, a visit to the Beatrix Potter museum and the Brockhole visitor centre. We also liked the playground at limefitt and the Haybarn. Due to the weather we have spent cosy night in at Windermere Lodge and just enjoyed relaxing in this lovely lodge. For any keen mountain bikers the Garburn Pass is a classic mountain bike route and well worth doing" - October 2010
"We have had such a lovely weekend. The lodge is lovely and clean and very well equipped. The weather has been lovely but very cold. The setting and surroundings are very beautiful and we will definitely be recommending this to family and friends and hope to return ourselves soon." - October 2010
"Once again we had a brilliant 2 weeks holiday in this well-equipped lodge. Quite a lot of rain this time but we have tried all our wet weather gear - and it works!! Waterfalls looked magnificent due to so much rain. We have walked nearly every day and have done some really strenuous ones this time. Haystacks was very hard but well worth it. Food at Haybarn, Mortal Man and Queen's Head all excellent. Thanks John for showing us Troutbeck View - We have set our hearts on it for our next visit." - September 2010
"After the disappointment of the postponement of the Great North Swim to arrive at your lovely lodge was a delight! It is in a superb location and accessible to both Windermere and Ullswater. We relaxed in the lodge with all the facilities we required for a weekend." - September 2010

The food at Mortal Man, The Queen's Head and The Haybarn were as good as ever. We highly recommend the walk from Howtown back to Glenridding (Ulswater). very scenic, not too arduous. Thanks again John, Linda and Gary." - August 2010

"We have had a fantastic few days. What a great location and facilities. The lodge is superb and we were pleasantly surprised at how clean everything was and the high standard of the utensils, furniture, electrical goods etc. The park is perfect for a young family with our two year ld particularly enjoying the zip wire. Slightly disappointed that The Haybarn pub doesn't open during the day for lunch but that's a minor point. We can see ourselves coming back on many occasions in the coming years. We would strongly recommend The Mortal Man pub in nice weather. Great food and a breath-taking beer garden. Thank you for a lovely holiday" - July 2010

"Really enjoyed our stay. Had a brill time here. Even the weather held out for us." - July 2010
"We have very much enjoyed our stay here at Limefitt and found the lodge to be a comfortable and relaxing place to stay. This is our 3rd visit now to the Lakes and we've found this park to be the most peaceful and quaint. This visit is all the more important to us as it is our baby daughter's first holiday and it's safe to say that Hollie had no complaints. I found walking about the park taking in the sights to be a wonderful way to pass a couple of hours in the evening, and seeing as the weather was mostly kind to us. We managed to get out to Ambleside and Windermere and all in all simply enjoyed strolling around the place. We hope to return back to the lake district soon in the not too distant future... (a spitfire has just flown by - awesome)... and we will definitely consider staying here again. " - July 2010

Thanks for the walks sheet in the green folder - We went on the Wansfell pike walk yesterday - tiring but very satisfying for the fantastic views of Windermere and beyond! "This is our 5th time in the Lake District and we have had the best weather so far. We have managed two good walks with the children - Orrest Head from Windermere and Todd Crag from Ambleside. It was our first stay at Limefitt and it has been wonderful. The children loved the adventure playground and the football pitch, and it felt very safe for them to run around the park. Your lodge is lovely - a real home from home. We are already planning our return trip. P.S. We went to The Haybarn Inn tonight and the food was excellent and it was very family friendly" - April 2010
"John and Linda, we have had an absolutely magical stay in your beautiful lodge. We have experienced all weathers - snow, rain, sleet, hail, gale force winds and warm sunshine! It has been wonderful to see the landscape transform from a snow-covered winter scene to sunlit green in the space of a few days! We have been on some great walks - the best being Aira Force (beautiful and very enjoyable) and we walked through a forest which led us to a breathtaking view at Orrest Head. The lodge has been a great base and we have made the most of the decking area and fun choice of games. Thank you so much for an excellent holiday. We have loved every minute and don't want to leave! We will definitely be returning! Thanks from both of us." - March 2010

Being 32 weeks pregnant and having recently come out of hospital we were looking forward to a relaxing holiday exploring this wonderful area and that's exactly what we've had! The weather has been dry and even sunny allowing us to go on some lovely walks, hire a boat, and explore Grizedale Forest. our girls (six and three years) have loved every day and the outside decking area was a fantastic safe place for them to play in the fresh air. We are hoping to book again during the spring when baby is born." - October 2009

We hope to come back soon. Thanks again." - June 2009
"Windermere Lodge is fantastic. We loved our stay here even though the weather hasn't been on our side for the later part. The lodge is so well presented and equipped we couldn't fault anything. The children's toys were great fun for our 17 month old and the games and TV kept us entertained in the evenings. Thankfully the weather was kind to us most evenings. so the decking was great with a glass of wine. We managed to make use of the baby back pack for a short walk which was great. It's lovely to come somewhere that caters so well for small children and not to have to bring half our house with us. If only you could move the lodge closer to Kent! We had a great stay and would love to come back for another stay soon. Thanks loads." - June 2009

Enjoyed even more sightseeing, but a revisit to South Lakes Wild Animal Park was a must with our little one - which provided even more fun second time round. The week has flown by and there are still so many places we would like to visit. managed to dodge the rain for most of the week, although we did embrace it one evening by getting our waterproofs and wellies on and searching for big puddles to jump in (which Joel particularly enjoyed!) around Limefitt!. Thanks again for letting us stay in your lodge - it's been perfect." - June 2008

Extremely well organised, with friendly staff and able to use our pensioners bus passes! Oh By the way forgot to mention that our 11 year old grandson was with us and he classes it as "cool". What more can you say ???" - June 2008

Visit the Queens Head to be fed and watered sat by cosy log fires. Will definitely recommend Windermere Lodge to friend and family. Thanks" - January 2008
"After a 6 hour drive it was lovely to walk in to such a well cleaned and comfortable lodge. I'm not sure what we thought it would be like but Windermere Lodge certainly exceeded our expectations. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - The Lakes are breathtaking and there is so much to do. It was our first visit and we will definitely be returning. Thank you John and Linda for accommodating us at short notice. May we wish you a Happy New Year and we hope to be in touch to explore some more" - January 2008
"We have all had a lovely time. The children loved the freedom of the hills. The lodge is very homely and comfortable, with all the little extra that you always need and forget to bring from home. It was lovely to walk in and not to have to get the bottle of Dettol out to start cleaning. I don't think we have ever stayed anywhere which has been so clean on arrival. Many thanks to you for letting us have the use of your lovely lodge. We would love to bring the children back in the Summer. Thanks again. P.S. What a perfect way to end our stay. We woke up to snow" - January 2008
"Please find enclosed the short questionnaire you asked us to fill in. I was more than happy to give you feedback on the lodge as it proved to be the icing on the cake for our holiday and more than catered for my little creature comforts. In fact I think you and your wife have thought of everything. The lodge was warm and cosy and the rooms were all a good size. We actually ate our meals at the table as a family, that's when we could be bothered to cook of course. Unfortunately the only down side was the weather. We had torrential rain every night and during most of the days but it didn't stop us getting out and taking in some of the breathtaking views. Our sons even had us climbing to the top of one of the smaller mountains and the waterfall was just amazing. We now have some wonderful memories of our time in Cumbria and definitely plan to make a return trip albeit in a sunnier climate. So once again thank you and happy New Year." - New Year 2007

"We had a lovely, but too short, stay here in Windermere Lodge. We have not eaten out because we wanted to enjoy the house as much as we could. Went to Kirkstone and Ullswater and were astonished by the breathtaking scenery. Also the Lake trip was lovely. And then... the weather. We thought England was a rainy country but we have never had as much sun in September! Windermere and your cabin was a good start for hopefully a fine trip through all of England." - September 2007
